Student Academic Progress

Student academic progress is for teachers to provide evidence that achievement goals and student academic growth is being obtained. The goal is to set up measurable and appropriate goals for students. Educators can complete this objective by creating records of pupil learning, establishing and creating timely, appropriate, and measurable goals that demonstrate student academic progress, and conferencing with students regarding learning development.

Record of Pupil Learning

For my persuasive writing unit, I collected data from a pretest and post-test that I created.  The results showed a 50% increase from the beginning of the unit until the end.  This shows my competency and effectiveness in student academic progress.

Goals

While volunteering at Community Youth Program, I worked with two students on their reading skills.  A goal established by the students and myself was working on their expression and volume.  One strategy I used was to increase these skills was Reader’s Theater (Reader’s Theater Outline).  Below is the reading growth I tracked for one of my students, showing their academic progress.

Conferences

I make an effort to have regular conferences with students.  During these conferences, I consult with them concerning their portfolios.  In these portfolios, I keep their work and grades, and together we track their progress.  We establish timely, appropriate, and measurable goals for the future.
